BACKUP :( site down
i have the WORST Hour in my life >>>
i just want to optimize my database cuz my website seems too slow , sooo
By mistake i delete my Data base :( , and i lost my backup file in somewhere … so every thing GONE :( … ALL MY POSTS every thing in this website just disappear
till i contact the hosting company and check , the only available backup date 9th of feb. ..
i get it and things back semi normal , i lost 3 post with all comment and and and Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh 12 drafts :(:(:(
i type it direct to my blog ,I was in writing mood and some of them scheduling for next week cuz am going to be away in Damas

I know the feeling..I remember dropping my laptop and losing the whole Hard Disk with all of the Data…and the latest backup was 2 months old!!
It still hurts to remember the whole experience :)
I backup every week now!!

lol mate, been working for two weeks on two broadcast Databases and beleive I know what you are talking about, always take back up measurements before you proceed to next step.

Every two blank dvds cost around 1JD. You can use them (7 GB) to store all your life documents, so why not invest few JDs to back up your own necessary documents (not movies :-) )
I use Unix at work. It has the most efficient backup system, you can retrieve an image of your data at so many points back in time: before 1, 2, 3, ect .. hours, days weeks and months. In addition I keep two up to date copies on my PC and laptop.
For my Personal documents, I keep two copies on my PC and laptop, and in addition, I burn it into DVD every few months, I still have backup CDs since 1999!!
One last point: NEVER trust your laptop, its the most vulnerable device, it can be damaged, lost, stolen, stop working by liquids, etc, ….

By the way, I don’t have my own copy of my blog :-) probably I should keep one for me, you never know what these public website are going to do in future .. they may bankrupt anytime :)
