Compassion..the ability to feel for others..thats what distinguishes us from animals..

If you mean human when compared to the animals. It is sacrifice, to act contrary to one’s interests with the aim of helping others. Aside from maternal protective instincts, animals are incapable of this. We on the other hand are quite capable of letting our most base animal instincts out and unleashing them on the unsuspecting world !

Whay make us humans is what is written in Quran… we are the Claifs of Aallah on earth and he gave us “7ekmah” which make us unique to all other creatures… even heavenly ones.
